Club #5160
Our club Secretary (& immediate past VPE) has not been getting FreeToastHost list emails (member and officer lists) since about May, 2018. We have had a custom domain (fstoastmasters.org) for over a decade. No changes were made in the FreeToastHost account or the member's Yahoo email. A secondary email was recently configured for the member at her gmail address and she does get FreeToastHost list emails there but not at yahoo. We recently did a test to try to figure out the issue that went like this:
<<
Go to yahoo email contact list and add members@fstoastmasters.org, officers@fstoastmasters.org, server@toastmastersclubs.org, & toastmastersclubs.org to your contacts list.
Then log in to your gmail account and send a message to secretary@fstoastmasters.org.
That email should show up in both your yahoo and gmail inboxes.
>>
The result: She got the email at gmail but still not at yahoo. Conclusion: Adding sender to the contact list did not solve the issue.
Details: There is no bounce message sent to the sender when the email is not received at yahoo. There seems to be nowhere to look for headers about this issue since the email is simply not delivered to yahoo with no notice to either recipient or sender. It doesn't seem to matter who the original sender of the list email was. All of them are blocked at her yahoo inbox.
This seems like it must be some sort of yahoo spam filter blocking the list emails.
Our club secretary uses yahoo as her primary email. We've got a workaround by making her gmail a secondary email address but she doesn't check it as often as her primary yahoo email account.
Do you have any suggestions on how to "unblock" the yahoo filter?
Our next test, by the way, will be to create a test yahoo email account for a "test" member. Put them into the member list and as an "other officer", to check to see if this new yahoo email receives the list emails or not.
Thanks & Regards,
Wes Rogers, DTM, VPE Club#5160
