I have some users who have to reset their password everytime they logon.
It appears to be due to the fact that the FTH logon does no interpretation of the USERID and PASSWORD when it is entered.
1) PASSWORD: Due to the password masking, they can not tell if they are typing a capital letter or a lowercase letter.
In addition, depending on the device they are using, some devices (like iPhones) automatically capitalize the first character of any input field, so the users don't always realize that they have or have not entered a capital letter when typing their password.
- Other sites will display the password character when it is typed and only mask it when the next character is typed. That way the user knows if they are typing the right characters or not. Is this a convention you have considered?
2) USER ID: Many users use the email address as their user id. Many applications support that also, but accept any form of a email address (whether capitalized or not) as a valid ID.
For example: I can logon to Toastmasters.org using user id: Donna.L.Young@att.net OR donna.l.young@att.net.
Is this a convention you have considered?
I ask this because I have had a number of users who have not been able to login to our FTH club website and even when I set next to them and their device, it takes a number of tries to login and I am not confident that they will be able to logon they next time they try it alone.
Thanks for your feedback / advice in this matter,
