Member with a line through his name.

Why do we continually makes things more complicated than they need to be? I added a new member. My understanding is now that the member has to click on a link from an email before he can be activated in the system. This is a close friend of mine who has the very early stages of Alzheimer’s and wants desperately to join our group. I am not able to assign him a role because his name still has a line through it. I was with him when he clicked on the link. Why do we have to make life much more difficult than it really needs to be? Can you help me with this situation?

The new can/spam and EU Privacy laws have made it so, not FTH. All members are now responsible for their private information. That means they have to opt-in to be added to the website. We have no choice in this matter.
All you have to do is help them access their own email and click the link in the email that the server sent them.
REMEMBER there are 2 emails one from Toastmasters International to be added as a member to the Toastmasters.org website and one from toastmastersclubs.org to be added to the FTH club website.

Thanks for your reply. I resent the opt in and sat with him and this time it activated. Sorry to sound so negative. I realize it's not Toastmasters fault. The government is trying to protect everyone. In so doing, they take away a lot of our freedom. The older one gets the more you understand this. I'll get off my soapbox.
