Name Tag Maker {{awards}} Variable Not Recognizing Pathways Awards?
6 years 2 months ago - 6 years 2 months ago
Hello,
I was printing name tags and noticed that Pathways awards produced some undesirable results.
Here was my process (screenshots) :
Member Information:
Test Member, IP1, CL
Name Tag Template:
Expected Result:
(Note: Member does not hold an officer role)
Actual Result:
It seems as though the system recognizes IP1 (Innovative Planning Level 1 award) as the last name. Therefore, the real last name is replaced and CL is recognized as the only award.
Am I inputing the Pathways awards incorrectly?
Any help is much appreciated, thank you!

It looks like I need to work on updating the awards variable a bit for Pathways. (it got missed)
For now I would suggest avoiding that variable.

I went ahead and tweaked the code for this a little bit. Let me know if this works better for you.
I am not sure that other clubs and members will use the same notation for the pathways path / levels, but I decided to go ahead and adopt that 2 letter + number scheme for now as I really do not have a good alternative. Anything else is bound to be more verbose.
There is probably still some room for improvement on how the name suffixes are handled. If you have someone with a PhD and a DTM, for example, you would probably see the DTM in both the namesuffix variable and the awards variable, but only the PhD in the namesuffix variable. (I do not think there is currently a means to get them split totally separately)
Also, keep in mind how underscores are used as a non-breaking space for people that have multi-part names. E.g. Sue Ann Jones or Jose De La Joya ... use the underscore in the names as a non-breaking space to force the code to split the names correctly into the first and last names for the features that support separate first and last name usage.

I took this notation from the roster from Toastmasters International. As long as they don't change it I think it's likely to become the standard.

Thanks for the tip! I don't recall having run into this in the past but I'll be sure to remember it in the future.
