Email templates won't stay away!
6 years 1 week ago
Hi,
There is something quirky with the templates associated with Send Basic Email. I successively (and successfully) deleted three old ones, but the next time I launched the Admin console they were back, "out of the trash." I even tried the old "reload site from server" at the bottom of the home page.
Minor related issues: the available fields appear to be case insensitive. Correct? Looks like text attributes like italics and boldface can be applied. Correct? For consistency, I suggest {{WEBURL}} be shown as {{weburl}}. Also, looks like the {{membersince}} field might not be working. I generated a template called Field Test to see what all these fields look like, as I did with the fields available on name tag printing. Here's what it came back with for me. As you can see, {{membersince}} is blank, not (adds "Member Since" to Date Joined) as indicated on the Send Basic Email pane.
name = Arthur L. Farnsworth, DTM
firstname = Arthur
lastname = Farnsworth
namesuffix = DTM
datejoined = 2003-07-01 00:00:00
membersince =
officerrole = Treasurer
emeritus =
clubname = We The Speakers
clubnumber = 9376
WEBURL = www.wethespeakers.org
adminname = Arthur Farnsworth
adminemail = ToastmasterArt@verizon.net

Art, you are posting about two separate things in the same post... a recipe for some confusion.
Please post each issue or topic in its own thread in the future.
I am looking into the email template thing now.

Re: The web page variables.
On the WEBURL thing, it is a legacy thing that it is uppercase--if I change it, I also have to find and change all the occurrences in the database that already exist so those still work. (There are a lot of them.) Actually, these are case-sensitive. (currently) In a perfect world, I would have all of these variables thing going through the same code on the server... not there yet. The email variables pre-date the web page variables server code. The web page variables server code is what I want to use in the future. The web page variables server code is a single function that handles converting all the web page variables to values. Single server function is what I want for the future.
