Hi Support Team
I've read support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/improving-google-ranking and other support articles, but haven't yet found an answer to this problem.
Chermside Communicators Toastmasters Club has used an alias (chermside) for many months, but the club's club number (790457) continues to appear in the club's URL in Google's search results (see screen capture).
Am I right in thinking that, rather than being a function of FreeToastHost, this is controlled by either the website address appearing in TI's 'Find a club' facility, and/or the 'Google My Business' entry. Both of these are yet to be updated.
I have cleared my browser's cache and have tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge, etc.).
If it can be controlled by FreeToastHost (rather than the TI or Google entries), then please point me in the right direction.
Thanks and regards
Cameron Krook

Google needs a starting point to scan your site either toastmasters find-a-club or another site or google webmaster tools.
You need to change all external references to the site when you change your site url.
Find-a-club still has 790457.toastmastersclubs.org/
Your officers need to change it.

Thanks, Brian. That's what I suspected. Unfortunately, I've got to rely on the club officers to update the TI details (which I've tried to get them to do, repeatedly), because I'm the club's coach (and acting VPPR and webmaster), but not a member/officer. Cheers for replying so quickly.
Thanks for your work.
Best wishes
Cameron

Unfortunately, this is kind of a "catch-22" scenario. Reason: I typically advise clubs to use the club number form of their website URL in the find a club address, since it is always available, and will always work even if they change their website alias or custom domain name in the future. (clubs do change those) However, you are correct that it could affect what shows up in Google results. You might also try setting up Google Webmaster tools for the website so that you can tell google to index the same website using the alternate url.
