Add TM Colors to Color Picker

Can we have the TM brand colors added to the color picker for text and backgrounds on the wysiwyg page editor in FTH? This would greatly help branding compliance. Some of the colors there are close, but not quite right. Having to memorize or reference the hex codes and enter every time is a barrier to proper branding. I've attached a list. Much thanks!

We use a third party editor and don't modify it. You can put the hex code for the colour you want to use in the picker.

Eric, along the lines of what Brian is noting, if it was easy to just add some custom colors to the CKeditor color dialog, I would have done it already. (The colors are buried in the developer's JavaScript and there is no provision for custom colors.) Because the editor is a such a huge, complex piece of Javascript, I generally try not to mess with it much. The version we are using (Version 4.x) is already out of date, the new version is a drastic departure, and so I am not even sure what to do with the editor moving forward. (It is going to require a lot of effort.)

Note that the brand colors *are* in the color pickers that are in the Website Settings dialog--I added those a long time ago. The developer of that JavaScript code (Brian Grins / Spectrum color picker) was thinking ahead by supporting custom colors saved to the palette. ;-)

Hey Steve, I saw that... Good thinking ahead on the Website Settings dialog!
Thanks for your detailed answer! I'm an engineer can relate to the challenge. I thought the editor looked a bit dated. If there's anything I can do like help find where it's buried in the code, let me know. If there might be a new editor coming, then I look forward to the possibility that it allows a custom pallet in the picker.

I think you misunderstand. I mean that the developer of the following (we use his stuff in the website settings) was thinking ahead: bgrins.github.io/spectrum/

The editor is very complex. Is useful to think of it as like a toolbox with its own plugin API and similar conventions. It is a huge learning curve, which is why I am not not looking forward to CKEditor version 5 (they totally redesigned it... not necessarily better, though)

Steve: Ah, gotcha. Good find with the Spectrum color-picker anyway. CK5 looks nice, but browsing the documentation for 4 and 5, I see what you mean by complex. Right away I noticed the <source> button missing in CK5. I thought this was just hidden in the example, but it appears they are limiting this feature so CKEditor isn't blamed when people "break" their content. github.com/ckeditor/ckeditor5/issues/592#issuecomment-470424532

...apparently The editing engine and WYSIWYG <--> HTML transformations have become even more complex in v5.

Thanks for taking the time to explain what some of the challenges are!
