Bounced Emails

4 years 8 months ago
#82253
I'm a dual member and posting this request for my other club:
Good Morning Syracuse, Club #4885982
One of our members, Danielle Tinker, is unable to receive emails when our members-4885982@toastmastersclubs.org email address is used to send emails to our club members. This is the error message we receive:

danielle.tinker@use.salvationarmy.org was skipped because it has previously bounced too many times. Please visit support.toastmastersclubs.org and post a support request message for more information.

Her email address is valid and she has used it since she became a member with us, about 2 years ago. This problem started occurring this past summer (around July, I think) and then it was fixed by Roger. It is happening again and we don't know why and don't know how to fix it. Your help is appreciated. She is our VPE and sends/receives a lot of club emails. If we knew how to prevent this in the future that would be useful as well.

Thanks,
Pat Costello

All we can do is to reset the bounce count on our end for the email address which is a *temporary* resolution. I just did this.

Keep in mind that we are not creating the problem, we are simply tracking the number of times emails that we send from the server to the email address in question are not being accepted. Once we get to a certain number of times being blocked (more than 3), we stop trying to send and notify of a problem. In most cases, the problem is with the recipient's email and we are just tracking and reporting the issue. It could be that the recipient may need to whitelist our server email address or add it as a contact in their contact list. Alternatively, they may need to get another email address (e.g. gmail) that we can reliably send to.
