A Possible Future Home Page Suggestion

I realize this may be something to consider down the road, but I wanted to share a thought about the home page.

On the home page, there is a yellow “Plan a visit” button and a white “View meetings” button. Underneath are three white boxes: 1 – Meeting info, 2 – Visit as a guest, and 3 – Podcast.

The “View meetings” button and the “Meeting info” box essentially provide the same calendar information that is also available by clicking the Meetings option in the navigation menu. I would suggest removing the “Meeting info” box and replacing the “View meetings” function with a link to the Podcast, with the button renamed accordingly.

Similarly, the yellow “Plan a visit” button and the white “Visit as a guest” box, which also says “Plan a visit,” essentially serve the same purpose. I would suggest removing the white “Visit as a guest” box and having the yellow “Plan a visit” button take visitors directly to the visitor form.

This would eliminate the duplicate information and functions while creating more room on the home page for clubs to display text and information specific to their club.

Lia that was done on purpose. That is the PUBLIC site of the website and you really want the person to have as many changes as posible as the scroll through the page to be able to clik a link and find a meeting.

We had designed the FTH3 home page to have a friendly public face that gave visitors immediate information about how to connect with us. I’ve watched members sometimes struggle to find that same information in FTH4, so I suspect visitors may have some of the same difficulty.

My suggestion was simply an attempt to bring back some of that original, visitor-friendly information while still giving people multiple opportunities to find a meeting—a bit of a happy medium.

Here is what I came up with. The new FTH4 design looks more professional overall, but I think the area we can customize feels a bit too busy. The previous version was more readable and promotional, although admittedly a bit plain.

I also noticed that the club name appears three times near the top. Would you consider eliminating one of those to give the page a little more breathing room?
