Ok, I am back from my club meeting.

How is it going? Is there anything else I can assist you with?

Thanks you. I have made contact with old administrators of the site. . What new name would you recommend?

Hope you enjoyed the meeting.

It depends... Are you thinking of doing another custom domain or are you going to go the website alias route? What is your choice?

Meeting was our club speech contest... table topics and international speech contest. A member won the former and the VPE won the latter. Its all good. :)

Thank you Steve. I am the admin of our club website now.

I am at the point of how to make the link between "the club website" and the "find a club"

Semi frustrating, but I am hanging in there.

I would rather do the club site alias route. What do you think?

Thank you in advance.

Richard

Ok, my suggestion would be to make the alias ticktalk then. That is likely short enough but familiar enough to your members. The only catch will be that you will need to retrain your members to use the clubnumber in the list email addresses--the alias is not used in the email addresses. For example, they would have to use members-2113@toastmastersclubs.org instead of members@ticktalk.org if you are going the alias route. (same approach applies to the other list email addresses, also.)

Just a quick story about domain names. My daughter at one time set up a domain with her first name and the word online dot come.. she inadvertently let it expire and one of those companies that buys up web sites got it and said she had to pay them an exorbitant amount to get it back.. well she didn't.. couldn't .. single mom with one income.. so she waited.. and lo and behold a year (might have been two - I loose track of time) - the company gave it up and it was available to her again for a very very affordable price... so sometimes patience works for those domain names.

that being said.. I think the alias is the way to go with the toasthost sites.. just because no domain to remember to renew and no expense involved.
