Emails to Multiple FTH2 addresses was created by jpeters47
Whenever I send an email from my Yahoo account to "members@....." I get this email - and I have no idea what it means or what to do to fix it.

"You appear to be sending from a Yahoo! email account and it is creating duplicate messages. This can be caused by sending to multiple FTH2 email addresses in the same email--try sending to them separately. (or use a different email account) If you have any questions, please visit support.toastmastersclubs.org .?

That is due to a quirk in how Yahoo email works.

Are you sending to just the member list or also to some other list in the same email? Normally, that is not a problem, but Yahoo has had problems with that in the past, and that is why we flag that. Yahoo is the only email provider that we have a specific error message tied to.

If FTH gets two emails in series with a Yahoo From address and the exact same Yahoo Message ID tag, then you will get that bounce. My impression is that two distinct emails should not have the same Yahoo Message ID tag, and thus, they may be considered spam. That is my technical understanding of it, but I do not know the historical perspective of why we do that bounce.

The error message pre-dates me getting involved with FTH development, so I am not entirely clear about the historical significance of it. Brian may be able to offer some perspective, but he is currently at the Las Vegas convention.

Thanks Steve. In this instance, I sent to two lists: Members and Guests

In the past, I've sent to just the Members list and received the same message.

As you've said, a quirk of Yahoo, so not much I can do about it I guess other than use my GMail or other email account, or just send from our FTH2 site.

Regards,
Joe

Well, I am willing to look into it further when Brian gets back and can share the historical significance of it.

It is an old error message and things may have changed with Yahoo... I do not know. It is possible that it is not needed any more. If you would be willing to work with me on testing, I could try removing the error trap and see what happens. Again, I would like to wait until Brian can offer some insight before I try anything with it.
