I've found a few of our members have long member bio details displaying. I thought it was about 100 words maximum, so checked their profile and see only #mpnotes being contained in the "Brief Member Bio" field

I haven't been able to find anything to tell me how this works, or where the bio content is kept or maintained

Looking for directions. I have attached a document with print screens of the source and display views of one of our members

I'm the club website admin and have just recently stepped into that role

Ken,

You are correct, bios do have a limit of 650 characters. But, if the bios were copied/pasted, the editor cannot count them. The bio will be displayed on the Meet Our Members page, but you cannot edit it, as the editor cannot display it. If a member needs an extended bio, they should have a custom page made, with a link in the bio.

The two members of your club that have the long bios deserve the recognition, but to make your (and your successor's) life easier, create the a Founding Members page, and honor these individuals.

thanks Roger,

I'll check the documentation to remind myself about a custom page, and consider that

Is that what the "#mpnotes" might already be?? Guess I just don't understand what the current content is, or how it is working

Ken,

Ken, the #mpnotes is definitely an over-limit message, and the only way to get more than 650 characters is by pasting the content.

To preserve the content of the current bios for the custom page you would have to copy/paste from the Meet Our Members page. But, be careful, there may be hidden html code stuck in there as well. When you paste, make sure you paste as plain test. Then, ask the members to trim their bios, but provide them the link to the custom page to add at the bottom of the shortened bio.

But, whatever you do, do not make any changes to the bio until you have the content copied someplace else.

#mpnotes is the identifier for the text box that you enter the bio info into. (short for member personal notes)
