FTH and Custom Website Domain

Club 9715 - Leawood Toastmasters in Overland Park, Kansas

I am the website administrator for this club and I have a question about removing the Custom Website Domain name of www.leawodtoastmasters.com

It wouldn't hurt to have that address as an alias, but have the true address be the 9715.toastmastersclubs.org

There is a note below the box for the CWD box -- Make sure you own the domain and have moved it first! -- What does that mean?

Is there something that needs to be done with the Domain Name provider? The renewal fee for the CWD name was just paid, so it is active for another 12 months.

My contact information -- john.mulroyd22@att.net

Please do not put email addresses in forum posts. You are asking to get spammed.

Are you trying to remove the domain or add it? It is not clear. (Why would you pay for a domain you do not intend to use.)

If you want to go from a domain to an alias, we have a doc on that: support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/d...al-considerations%20

Hi Steve,
Thank you for your reply!

First -- I did not develop the clubs site in the first place. It was done 5 years ago by someone long since gone from the club.

Second -- I have recently taken over as Administrator. While I have been in IT for 36 years, I am not a webpage developer, although somewhat familiar with networks.

Lastly - I am trying to remove the domain. two reasons are because I see no reason to pay for something that is offered for free by TI, and second because of the built in "gotcha's" with Custom Domain names regarding paying for it, recording that information and so on.

I appreciate the link to the information -- I'll see what I can do with it. I have to get the account information for GoDaddy from another former member .

Good points... I would just mention that the system is not offered by TI. TI has nothing to do with it. It was developed and is supported by volunteer Toastmasters like you. BTW, I am the current system developer, and I have never had one conversation about the system with anyone at TI.
