davinp,
After your VPE follows Brian's directions, could you ask her to provide some more details on her setup?
In other words, what email software is she using, what operating system is she using, and what browser is she using? Also, could you post the link target here (as received in the email client) for my inspection?
We have had a few of these types of issues lately (more than I would expect) and I am concerned that they might be related to some of the "smart link protection" schemes that some email clients have implemented.
(e.g. MS Outlook) However, I need to get more information on these issues so that I can confirm or deny whether my suspicions are correct or not. It is not likely to result in a code change in the short term... I just need to collect some "data points" to see if there is a pattern/trend.
Brian: I think we need to be getting some more information about these issues to determine if they really are just cache/cookie issues or if they are related to link protection schemes. If the link protection schemes are becoming more prevalent in email clients, we may need to rethink how we approach the change password / initial authentication schemes for admin and members. (Not something I want to do unless absolutely necessary.) Pam has also mentioned a concern about link issues. For reference: I am wondering if the following thread may be related (link protection issue):
