Correcting new member email ID before member has accepted the opt in email

Good to know both the suggested enhancements are already there.

As I did not get the error message, could there be a bug in the email validator?

May be I have partial admin rights. I was unable to edit the email ID while it was in strike through status. Is there a way for me to check what rights I have?

When you select 'Membership Management' in the menu the same dialog box appears that the site admin sees when using 'Login as site admin'. i.e; the behavior of various admin tools isn't based on who is using them.

Items in your 'Members Only' menu that open an admin dialog box are the admin rights available to you.

If you haven't already tried this; clear your browser cache and reload the site from the server. At the bottom of your site; 'Click here to reload website from server'.
