New Member Template Emails
7 months 6 days ago
I am trying to streamline messages that are sent to new members - automatically through the portal, and manually by our VP-M, and VP-E.
I created a test user, and to my surprise, that user did not receive the "new member welcome" message that is configured in the Membership Management section of the Admin Console. Is that message sent automatically, or is the button to be clicked at the time when the user is added? If it is sent automatically, please help me understand why a message wasn't sent for my test user.
And by the way, the opt-in email seems to contain an error - the variable {{ clubname}} shows up in the text without being replaced with the actual clubname.
Many thanks.

You haven't given us your club number so we can't be sure of what is causing your issues. Please always provide your club number in your posts, or even better add it to your signature.
There is a setting to automate the new member welcome - documentation here: support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/m...-management-settings
The {{clubname}} variable won't work if you have a space as shown in your post

Sorry for not including my club number. It is #1115312, Flatiron Toastmasters.
I added the space before {{clubname}} in this thread because I wasn't sure how variable names might be treated by your forum, but there is no space on the actual template... and I don't see where the opt-in template resides, and I supposed it might not be editable. The {{clubname}} appears properly earlier in the opt-in message.
Thanks again.

In the Membership Management console, go to the settings tab and check the box next to these instructions;
With this checked, any time a new member accepts the opt-in email, the new member welcome is automatically sent. You don't have to check this box each time a new member is added.
The opt-in email itself is not configurable by the club.

Code:
Check this box to send the New Member Welcome Email when new members APPROVE/OPT-IN.
The New Member Welcome Email will be CC'd to the Website Admin when this feature is enabled.

1. Thank you. I wasn't aware of the SETTINGS tab.
2. Since the opt-in message is not editable (for good reason), for what it's worth, just note that the opt-in message I received had an instance of the {{clubname}} code in it.
Best regards,
DS

Are you able to post the text of the email containing the {{clubname}} variable here please. I haven't been able to reproduce that error
