Ref: Support Request fielded by Pam - Re: Duration of Toastmastersclubs.org url with club alias (5 months 3 weeks ago)
#95982
Charlestown Toastmasters Club 6345 (NSW Australia) - We were wondering if FTH would consider setting up a Google "
301 redirect
", to ensure a smoth transition from our
old "org.au" domain to our
new FTH alias domain? ("301 redirect" is a permanent HTTP status code indicating a URL has moved to a new location, directing users and search engines automatically to the new address ... ensuring users do not encounter "404 Not Found" errors and search engines update their index accordingly)
- see above Ref
#95982
re assistance from FTH Pam setting up new FTH alias domain previously
- On 1st March 2026, we transferred from old Club domain
charlestowntoastmasters.org.au
to new FTH alias
charlestown.toastmastersclubs.org
- We believe "301 redirect" may be implemented via a Google
Change of Address Tool
. When we tried to implement a "301 redirect" (via Change of Address), we could not prgress past owner verification of DNS records, as presumably owner is Toastmasters International?
- Opening old site
charlestowntoastmasters.org.au
provides error message, "This site can't be reached ..."
- alternately if unable to support, advice to hand (google search), we believe the search engines will eventually update to recognis authority of new domain more quickly?
N.B. Additional info: Uncertain whether DNS Owner for "Change of Address" would be owner of
old domain? If so, it was not me so that may prevent doing anything.
- Previous Club Point of Contact was Mr Ross Kelly (on Client List of private company service provider, "Webcentral" for
charlestowntoastmasters.org.au
)
- Previously provided links on FTH Site Admin messages for old domain (if they help?):
Your assistance would be appreciated.
