"You'll lose access to your email" message from domain host

Hi there. Club 8213 here, Apex Toastmasters.

We have our club domain name through GoDaddy. Yesterday, we got an email from them with subject line "Urgent: You'll lose access to your email on 5/23/2026." It goes on to say "Your Microsoft 365 free trial is ending on 5/23/2026." and then talks about a paid plan. I thought the club email addresses (e.g. vppr@apextoastmasters.org) were done through Free Toast Host, and not the domain host. I've never seen an email like this before from GoDaddy, and I've been involved in our domain name renewal for many years. Should we ignore it?

Hi,
A WHOIS domain check at www.whois.com/whois/apextoastmasters.org reveals your domain registration expires on 2028-05-13.
I do notice on your FTH site you have both the Website Alias and Custom Website Domain fields set, to "apextoastmasters" and " www.apextoastmasters.org ," respectively.  It is typical to choose one or the other, not both (see FTH doc page at support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/a...whats-the-difference ), but I know not if having both set is problematic.  Hopefully Brian can chime in on that.
The real question may be this: do you use GoDaddy simply for domain registration, or are you using them also for hosting?  It would seem to be the latter, as hosting typically affords the entity a number of included e-mail addresses.  Since FTH handles your hosting, and includes the sundry e-mail addresses with which you are familiar, I'd put 5 bucks on GoDaddy being unncessarily used for hosting.
I can not comment on the Microsoft 365 issues, other than to wonder if that is also part of the possible hosting package you have.
Let us know!
Arthur

You don't use the godaddy email tools for your email.

Your Mx record points to FTH IP and the mailfor  apextoastmasters.org is forwarded by the FTH server.

"Urgent: You'll lose access to your email on 5/23/2026."
Sounds like phishing spam. Don't click any links in emails like this.

Thanks Brian. Do you see any problem with what Arthur said about: "I do notice on your FTH site you have both the Website Alias and Custom Website Domain fields set, to "apextoastmasters" and "   www.apextoastmasters.org  ," respectively.  It is typical to choose one or the other, not both"

It doesn't matter, all 3 will work, processing order is domain, alias, number.
