Embedding links and other widgets to Homepage

Hello!

Apologies in advance, I'm not a techie so my terminology may be off :-) I have searched through the forum for info, however a little overwhelmed.

I am a new VP-PR at Humbershores Toastmasters Club (4260), and I'm trying to update our Homepage to include links to other sites etc.

Example: I have created an invitation on Eventbrite for our Humorous Contest. Eventbrite provides me with a lengthy code to embed in our website. When I <copy-paste> this link on the homepage, instead of showing the event's poster, it just displays the link as is. messy!

I have also tried to embed other widgets with no luck. So far I am only able to upload photo files.

Any and all help would be most appreciated!

Thank you :)

Generally speaking, if you are trying to include HTML embed code provided by a third party on the web, you will need to insert that in the editor's Source view for best success. Unfortunately, Source view can be a bit daunting for someone who is new to HTML, so proceed slowly. (Generally, I would only refer using Source view to intermediate or advanced users.)

Thank you Steve and Brian!

I am reading the CK-Editor I-Frame manual and experimenting. I'm getting there, but still having some issues with centering the widgets and also re-sizing. Here is a screenshot of one of my amateur attempts ;-) for some reason I can't find the Document Preview button to review what the iFrame will look like.

Still, the link that Brian provided is proving to be quite useful! I'll keep practicing and see how it all goes. Thanks again!

Regards,

Mamta

Success!

Thanks to Brain and Steve's guidance, I managed to include a widget on our homepage (see link below). It's a fairly simple one at this point, but I will build on what I've learned about iFrames and hopefully build out a fabulous website sometime in the future!

Thank you both!

You have an HTML bug at the buttom of your home page... the extra "> (just delete it)

It is a small detail, but it can cause the editor to misinterpret your content as you add to your home page in the future.
