If you look closely in the content editor's set of icons, you should see a YouTube icon that will help you embed a YouTube video. You will still need to fetch the embed code from YouTube, but the editor tool should help.
As far as an image slider, there are a number of these widgets available on the internet... you can find them via Google.
Tips for being successful with this are: Look for one that uses iframes, avoid ones that depend on Adobe Flash, and you will likely need to switch to HTML source view in the editor to insert the embed code.
My recommendation is get one that is tied to something like Instagram, Flickr, etc. That will allow you to use their apps on your phone and then have the new photos reflected very quickly on your home page in the slider. You could literally snap a photo in your meeting and have the photo reflected on your home page just minutes later with this approach.
