Contact emails not received
7 years 2 months ago
Hi,
I'm Peter, website administrator for Club 1519 Bankstown Sports. I'm also designated as a contact for enquiries.
After noticing a reduction in email traffic over the last couple of months, I have discovered that the "Contact Us" form is no longer working. Also, the address that we use in the TI Find-a-club listing, contact-1519@toastmastersclubs.org , is similarly not functioning. When testing, I found that the messages appear to be sent ok, but they are not received by me. I have checked that I am listed as a contact, and that the publicly-accessed address is "enabled". These settings have not changed since I applied for the website many years ago.

1) I used the contact form and the email went through to you, do not use your own email to test the forms some server will block especial fanatics like bigpond

Hi Brian,
Yes. I confirm that your emails were received by me. I did not realise that I could not test it with my own email. Thank you very much for your swift reply and resolution.

What happens with some email providers is that they detect that an email has essentially traveled in a loop back to the sender and they drop those emails. (Gmail does this, for instance.) Loop prevention in emails is an important consideration, as it can prevent server crashes in some situations.
Even the FTH list server is designed to break email loops in certain cases for single email addresses that are not list addresses. This is also why you cannot put an officer email address in as your personal email address in membership management--if we allowed that, it would cause email loops resulting in server crashes.
