FreeToastHost explicitly supports the use of "MAILTO" links in agenda emails which allow members to sign-up without having to log in. (A "MAILTO" link creates an email instead of navigating to a different webpage.) This is an alternative to the default links in emailed agendas which *do* require a simplified login. Use of MAILTO links must be enabled by each individual member--this can be done by checking the box at the bottom of the simplified log-in pop-up when they click a sign-up button in an agenda or by enabling them in their member profile. Once enabled, the member will see a compose email window show when they click a sign-up button--they just need to send that email (which goes to the FTH server to complete the action).
However, there is a catch... not all email systems are guaranteed to support the use of MAILTO links. When I developed this feature, I tested its use on a number of email systems, including in various webmail systems, and I found that it worked well enough in most cases that I went forward with implementing it. However, when a specific member wants to use this advanced alternative to get around having to log-in to take roles from an emailed agenda, they may have to enable the support for MAILTO links in the settings for their email agent and/or operating system. We cannot really help with that as there are *many* more email agents (and webmail) than we can really be knowledgeable about. I use Gmail online, outlook.com, and Yahoo webmail, and I have confirmed that I am able to click and use MAILTO links in agenda emails received through them without any additional configuration. This is *not* guaranteed to be the case for every email agent. This is why MAILTO links are *not* the default for agenda emails.
Additionally, we are seeing more and more email agents alter links in emails. Because the MAILTO links are very long, it is possible that they can get mangled by an email agent.
