background on tabbed page

I have a page that is tabbed. ytalkers.toastmastersclubs.org/Navigating_PATHWAYS.html

When I changed the background color (to gray), it shows up in the editing area, but when I save and look at the page, the page background is white.

What do I need to do to conform this page to the gray background I am converting to??

You need to know html and inline css. You need to be careful as yoi may change several parts of your site.

yes, I am able to work on the source code. Where are the instructions for how to add the background? I do want the background on ALL pages.
