New web page variable for office contact info

The question: Would it be feasible to add variables for officer phone numbers? For example: vpprphone

Thoughts that led me to make this request:

I've been applying the web page variables wherever they can be beneficial. Part of this endeavor is to tune the site to respond to officer changes.

I know the 'Contact Us' page will display the name and phone number for the 1-3 officers configured to appear in that dialog box. Our home page shows the name of the VPM because I have the VPM variable in there. It used to also show his phone number and personal email address. (I may yet further tweak that page to include the vpm@ email address.) Our Media Center page shows my name because I have the VPPR variable in there.

I am on the fence about phone numbers. It seems congenial to include them in various places especially for VPM and VPPR.

I had considered including email address variables in this request but it occurred to me that simply using the club email addresses would circumvent any issues with email consistency through officer transitions.

This brings up some privacy concerns for me.

If you really want to have a club phone number that you could make available to the public, then I would suggest looking into Google Voice (I use it for personal reasons). If you have a Google club archive email address, then you already can set up a Google voice number for free. Since it is essentially a forwarding phone number, you can just keep the Google voice number the same, publish it,, and just change who it forwards to as needed. Plus, you can block spam calls with it and send/receive text messages with it.

I appreciate the advice Steve! Since I took over site admin I've been whittling down the number of places the site shows personal contact info to the Contact Us dialog box. There's still a couple out there and I would be more comfortable with something public facing that isn't personal phone numbers. Your concern is all the push I needed to complete the process!

I will look into using Google Voice as it does sound like a much better option!
