Strip trailing spaces from email addresses in Membership management

When adding new entries to the Membership Management section - members, guests etc. it is very easy to copy and paste an email address with a trailing space or tab. This results in a bad/illegal email and the opt-in or other emails will not be delivered with no notification. Since these trailing characters are not legal in email addresses then why not strip them out before adding them to the database. I believe that this is the behavior that the user expects and desires and it is a simple regular expression.

The code should already be doing that... are you saying it is not?

Yes, as I reported in the main forum. I used Quick Add to add a new guest with an email address ending .cc. The opt-in email was not sent - after a couple of attempts I discovered and removed the trailing space and clicked the resend button. This time the email was sent. Could it be that the email was a .cc rather than the more usual .com or .org?

Ok quick add matters and is different because the text is parsed.

I do not want to put all the details here - if you have access to our club website clippercity 8508 then you can see what we have now. I did a quick add to guests in the form of

name1 name2 name@name.cc 555-123-4567

so, now that I think about it I did not enter a spurious space, it parsed one in on quick add.

I later directly edited the list to remove a space after the .cc which enabled the opt-in message to be sent.

Of course I have access to all the websites... I am the developer. However, that will not give me what you entered via Quick Add. It will only give me the result which does not give me the means to try to reproduce the issue.

Can you just PM me what you entered?
