Email to Guest distribution fails

Hello,

We have lot of members who face problems communicating to our Guests distribution. I have checked the profiles based on the error message below and this is intermittent. Are there any server issues or are we missing any setting? Please advice.

You do not have the right permissions to send an e-mail to the following e-mail address(es) from "XX@gmail.com":
guests-967@toastmastersclubs.org

Be sure your "From" address in your e-mail client is the same as your address in your ToastmastersClubs.org member profile.

Only current officers are permitted to send email to the guest list, not regular members. If you need a non-officer to be able to send to the guest list you need to make them an "Other Officer" to enable them to send to that list.

Can you please tell me, why is this changed in new FTH? it was not the case in the past. It is really inconvenient not allowing members send emails to guests to invite to a meeting. making them all "other officers" might fix it, but what is the use of adding anyone as members anymore?

This is always the way it was. It was *not* changed.

We are not going to support anyone other than club officers sending unsolicited emails to non-members, as those emails may be regarded as spam.

While you may feel that allowing members to send unsolicited emails to guests is an acceptable risk, we do not. Since the actions of every club using FreeToastHost impacts the overall reputation of FreeToastHost as to whether it could get branded as a spammer or not, there are certain limits to provided functionality that we will insist on to protect the reputation of the overall system and promote confidence in its use. This is why our goal is to provide functionality that benefits the majority of club/districts, but not every club/district.

Since you can designate any member as an "Other Officer", we feel that this an acceptable way for clubs to authorize specific members to send emails to guests and/or former members on the club's behalf.

Ok, so this is part of reputation and security both. Thanks for the explanation, in my experience in the past I never had my emails bounced - not sure or I wonder why if this was implemented from the beginning. Anyhow thanks for the info.

The guest list was not part of the original FTH2, which I tend to refer to as "2.0".

It was added as part the update (revision "2.1") that included the changes to the agenda sequencing. However, the guest list was only added after a lengthy discourse in these forums that resulted in the restrictions to only allowing officers to send to the guest list and the inclusion of the unsubscribe link in those emails to guests.
