Cannot remove Guests from Membership Management

I cannot remove Guests from our membership list by using Membership Management. I get the warning about instead changing them to Former Members, but I don't want to do that. (They have requested to be removed from our distribution list.) The warning does not disapper unless I click the Cancel button, but then the Guest is not removed from the list.

You have 2 choices, remove them completely (ie. delete the record) or remove just their email address and save.

Thank you, Brian. The issue is that it will not physically let me delete the record. But I appreciate your suggestion to simply remove the eamil address; that seemed to work.
