arcane email delays--sometimes days was created by dbray9
Do emails get sent on an arcane schedule?
...see 2 examples below...one from a few weeks ago.. then another this morning
..or if someone has seen this problem.. and I need to change a Gmail setting, please let me know.
My backend to MS-outlook is Gmail and yes when I set it up, I checked that I could send/receive outlook emails
including sending to vped-3835 (c'est moi)
If it matters my Gmail backend is a secondary account set up exclusively for FTH emails. FTH emails come to my primary account.
I don't need outlook and Gmail in a tug of war on a primary account.
the first time I sent an email to exec-3835@....
I composed the email, hit send and logged off
didn't think much of it until I sent another email to (probably) members-3835 over 2 weeks later.
Suddenly that first email arrived from digital limbo. ..No intervening emails via FTH.. lots.. LOTS of others
...admittedly, I had wondered why no one responded to the first email at the time I sent it.
So I got in the habit of sending emails followed by a 2nd email
...to vped-3835 (me) labelled something like "test flush"...so they were easy to delete
...that seemed to solve the issue of "lost in limbo" emails.
as an ex- data centre manager, system integrator and you name it, I find that a little bizarre. But a "kludge" I could live with. because the emails usually arrived in (I'm estimating) less than 5 minutes.
...certainly well within what I would call normal expectations.
this morning I sent an email to members-3835 followed by a "test flush" to vped-38...
(I believe) over an hour later, the message still hadn't arrived, so I decided to
send it again.. complete with a 2nd "test flush" message...
suddenly all 4 messages arrived...and of course they were all dated within 5 minutes of each other.... but
I have checked with others who generally do NOT have this problem, although at least
one had an issue of one or 2 emails not going to destination..
I suggest she try sending a "test flush" to me ... no response
so maybe a one time aberration
looking forward to some direction on this one

I stand corrected
the email(s) that I indicated were sent to exec-nnnn were in fact sent to officers-nnnn
the issue of apparently arcane delays remains.
best regards
David
