Google Indexing Errors 2 - Major Issue Sitewide

I've had some concerns about Google searches with FTH sites too. I am an outgoing Area Governor. One club I've been involved with, New Heights Toastmasters, club 1285272, has had its Google results for the location search "Toastmasters Jersey City" sink like a rock in the last few months. In January they were in the top 10 results, as I recall.

Another club, Hudson Club, 9232, has a new FTH site. It does not show up in the first several pages of search results for "Toastmasters Bayonne" even though they are the only club in Bayonne. I believe this club now feels that the time they put into FTH did not pay off and they are focused on using Meetup to establish a presence online. Their site could undoubtedly use some work, but given the decline in visibility of the other club, I haven't been pushing them to do it. Meetup is working very well for them.

I'm only bringing this up to support the idea that there may be a global problem, as the first poster suggests.

Linda,

I moved your post to its own thread so that other members will not receive responses meant for you.

Club 9232 has no keywords in their homepage and the name of their club is not in the description on the main page. Club 1285272 also has very little data that makes a Google search very effective.

I would agree that one club's site is not very effective.

For 1285272, my concern is that a previously good Google result has deteriorated. In other words, it used to work, but now it doesn't. The page content has not changed significantly.

It does not matter. Google will update their algorithm occasionally in ways that we cannot anticipate or do anything about to address. Just because a website shows up well positioned in the search results today is no guarantee that it will continue to do so in the future. All we can do is to give you recommendations based on what we know now. (Welcome to the ever changing SEO landscape.) I agree with Roger... improved content is warranted.
