file upload rotates photo

I've uploaded many images to the server, but now they are being rotated 90 degrees. There is no difference in the size or orientation of the photos from before today.

If you go to our Winners page, you'll see Neal's picture, but my picture is rotated when I upload it (I didn't want to put it on the site yet).

Why is mine rotating?

My profile photo is also sideways. (I'm using El Capitan on my MacPro through Firefox.)

This is usually related to the device with which the photo was taken. Mobile devices don't always include the picture orientation in the metadata (the device doesn't know which side is up). One solution is to take a screenshot of the picture in the desired orientation. The screenshot image will include the orientation in the metadata. When you upload that it should display correctly.

I actually think I have finally figured out a solution for this...
We use a system tool called Image Magick for processing photos (cropping and scaling them). It has an option to automatically handle the EXIF orientation setting. See here: imagemagick.org/Usage/photos/#orient

I have added this -auto-orient option to the the Image Magick usage... Can you see if this makes a difference now and let us know?

I cannot delete files in my library. I imported the original unoriented photo and your trick corrected the photo. It's like Magick...
