FTH Domain vs Custom Domain
5 years 4 months ago
Good morning, This is not a request for action but an inquiry into FTH domain vs custom domains. Currently our club 3074 First Burlington uses a domain firstburlingtontoastmasters.org provided by a third party. This has proven to be problematic as it conflicts with the security provided by FTH. We are thinking of not renewing at the end of the contract in August. My understanding the domain name convention of FTH is <clubnumber> toastmasters.org which while effective does not provide the "visibility of the club name. I also see several clubs which are listed as <clubname>toastmasters.com who also use FTH
My question is is the last domain name available through FTH or this again a custom domain we would have to have provided by a third party
Your assistance is greatly appreciated
Guy

1) we are NOT toastmasters.org
2) the sub-domain we provide is 3074.toastmastersclubs.org with is always active whether you have a custom domain or not.
3) Please read the documentation on alias and custom domains
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/website-alias
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/a...whats-the-difference

I am not seeing any issues w/ your custom domain. Are you still seeing issues?

Thank you for your email.
1) But are you toastmasterclubs.org (or .com) that would be acceptable.
2) Understood while functional not as "visible" for marketing to general public.
3) From what I understand if we went with an alias would the potential of
firstburlingtontoastmasterclubs.org (or.com) be possible
Thanks again
Guy

While there are no current issues with our domain there have been regular "conflict issues" with the security of FTH so if we can have a visible public club name possibly through an alias (I have made inquiries in separate comment) that would be a simpler arrangement.
Thanks
