I want to establish a website for the San Antonio Advanced Communicators #2853. It appears to be the club number that Downtown Toastmasters is using. Please advise as to how or if we can establish a website.

Sincerely,

Bill,

I believe the website you found for "Downtown Toastmasters" is abandoned. Reasons:

1. The home page references sadowntown.freetoasthost.org/membershipinfo.html which is a now defunct, no longer valid website address.

2. For the few member records that were found, the LASTACCESS dates are as follows (a zero date means never accessed the website):
Code:
LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 2012-02-07 21:41:23 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00 LASTACCESS => 0000-00-00 00:00:00

I did locate a Downtown Professional Toastmasters in Find A Club, but they have a different club number (9082) and their website per Find a Club is different: 9082.toastmastersclubs.org/index.cgi?adm...nsvSjg06BeVxqpsDbFcq

We do have contact information for the members and admin for 2853.toastmastersclubs.org/ , but before we go that route, I have to ask a (maybe stupid) question: Given the longevity of your club, is there any possibility that it was named something different at some point in the past? Even a nickname maybe? Note that the meeting days (1st and 3rd Tuesdays) match with your club's meeting days.

I am leaning towards the thinking that maybe we should just clear this out so you can create your website. We just need to do the due diligence to make sure it is really abandoned.

Ok, I will defer to Brian's experience and judgement on this, since it looks like we may need to contact the listed admin for the existing website using the admin email address to confirm whether the website is really abandoned or just associated with the wrong club number somehow.

We have had some cases where people put the wrong club number in when they requested a website. Usually, the code logic sorts it out, be we have had a few cases that got through the code logic and confirmation/approval process. Major pain to sort out... I am hoping this website is just abandoned, as it will make getting you set up much simpler.
