Continued Problems with new Custom Domain Name - #3306
4 years 4 months ago
Please, please, PLEASE! It has been more than 6 months and we still have not been able to get our website, 3306.toastmastersclubs.org set up completely properly with our new CDL, LansingYawnPatrol.com. We have gone back and forth between you and GoDaddy.com and both parties continue to tell us we have to work with the other.
May we please just set up a phone call, 30 minutes in length max, with someone with FTH to get this corrected? We have no one in our club who can figure this out and we've exhausted our resources trying to find someone outside Toastmasters to help us. In the spirit of May 4, "Obi Wan, you are our only hope."
I believe we have the documentation needed from GoDaddy.com, but maybe we've asked for the wrong information. We've shared your past messages to us with them and they say they can't help. We want to continue with this platform, as we've invested so much time to content.
We cannot access the page with the CDL; we are getting a message that the CDL is going to be sold; we can no longer update the content on our page. There is more. I cannot tell you how desperate we've become to remedy this situation and we would so greatly appreciate your assistance. We can set up a Zoom meeting in order to share screens. We are not asking you to maintain our page, but are merely asking for your assistance to teach us what we have been unable to figure out from your manual documents and GoDaddy's documents.

1) FTH does NOT offer phone support to anyone.
2) you pay your registrar for support and they have a support phone number please take advantage of their service.
3) if you cannot figure is out, private message me your godaddy user and password, and make sure you do not have phone validating enabled on the account.

Brian: what is the difference between the "alias" URL and a custom domain name? We just couldn't use
www.yawnpatrol.com
anymore and purchased
www.lansingyawnpatrol.com

We have docs that cover the differences:
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/website-alias
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/a...whats-the-difference
support.toastmastersclubs.org/doc/item/d...tical-considerations
Many clubs elect to use website aliases so that they do not have to deal with setting up their DNS for the custom domain and do not have to remember to renew their domain subscriptions with their registrar.

Well, this is a head-slapper! What we have here is a failure to communicate! We just want to change our web alias. I've followed the instructions that you provided above, but I fear some settings were changed as we tried to figure out what to do. Are you able to "reset" everything so that we can just add the lansingyawnpatrol as our new alias?
